< In the 1970s, the then owners of the hotel, Jock and Betty Leslie-Melville adopted a young giraffe Daisy of a rare subspecies of Rothschild giraffes. Since then, the rescue of giraffes of this subspecies has become a matter of life for the owners of the estate. In 2009, another married couple, Tanya and Mikey Carr—Hartley, bought the hotel. They not only continued the work of their predecessors, but also brought the hotel to a new level: now it is known all over the world.

The mansion is surrounded by twelve acres of private grounds. There are only twelve rooms; all of them are decorated in a colonial style — comfortable beds with muslin mosquito nets, cozy furniture, like in a good English house, fireplaces, porcelain dishes. One of the suites is named after Karen Blixen, a Danish baroness and author of the novel "From Africa". Others are named after the giraffe people whose fates were linked to the estate.

In addition to Giraffe Manor, the Carr-Hartley family owns three more luxury lodges in the reserves of Kenya — Maasai Mara, Samburu and in the private Ol Padgett Reservation.
